Bingin is reached on foot down a maze of steps and paths that wind past cliffside guesthouses, cafes, and surf shops. There's no vehicle access to the sand, which is part of why it keeps its low-key feel. The walk down is short but steep, and the climb back up is the trade-off.
The beach changes with the tide. At low water a good stretch of white sand and tide pools opens up; at high tide the sea comes right in and the sand nearly disappears. Low tide is the time to come for room to sit and swim, so check the tide before you plan a visit.
Bingin's reef break is a long-standing favourite with surfers, best at mid-to-low tide and easy to watch from the cafes stacked up the cliff. The beach faces west, so it works as a sunset spot too: grab a drink, find a step with a view, and watch the light go. It's one of the more social of the quiet Bukit beaches.
