A tucked-away cove near Jimbaran, with natural rock pools at low tide and a west-facing view for sunset.
Tegal Wangi sits at the foot of the cliffs a short drive from Jimbaran, reached by a steep path and some rough steps down from the parking area. The climb keeps the crowds thin, so even on a busy day the cove stays quiet. Wear shoes with grip - the path can be loose and slippery after rain.
At low tide, shallow pools form in the dark volcanic rock along the shore - the "natural jacuzzi" people come for, where you can sit in calm water with the waves breaking just beyond. They only appear when the tide is out, so timing matters. When the tide is in, the pools disappear and the water reaches the base of the cliff.
The little bay faces west, framed by limestone headlands, which makes it a favourite for late-afternoon light and sunset. It's more a place to sit, wade, and take it in than a swimming beach - the surf can push hard against the rocks. Bring a bit of sun cover; there's almost no natural shade.
