Bali's temples are active places of worship, and visiting them respectfully is simple once you know the basics. The main rule is modest dress: a sarong and sash tied around the waist, with shoulders covered.
At major temples these are usually available to borrow or rent, and on our tours we arrange them for you. Beyond dress, keep your voice low near prayers, don't point your feet at shrines, and don't climb on the structures for photos.
By tradition, women who are menstruating are asked not to enter temple grounds. When in doubt, follow your guide's lead - a little courtesy is always appreciated.
