Ubud - Bali's Cultural Heart

Inland, green, and the island's centre of art, temples, and rice terraces.

Bali Guide › About the Island

Ubud is Bali's cultural heart, set in the cool green hills of the island's interior. Surrounded by rice terraces, river valleys, and temples, it has long drawn artists, dancers, and travellers looking for the Bali beyond the beaches.

The town itself is walkable, with a royal palace, art markets, galleries, and no shortage of cafes and yoga studios. Just outside it, the Campuhan Ridge, Monkey Forest, and countless craft villages are all within easy reach.

Because it sits roughly in the middle of the island, Ubud makes an ideal base for day trips - waterfalls, volcanoes, and temples are all a comfortable drive away, and it's where we're based.
