Shrines at the Water's Edge
Pura Ulun Danu Beratan was founded in the 1600s and dedicated to Dewi Danu, the goddess of the lake and the water that feeds much of the region's farmland. Its tiered meru shrines sit right at the water's edge, and when the lake is high they seem to float on the surface. It's recognisable enough to be printed on the 50,000 rupiah note.
